REQUIREMENTS FOR
DRIVER'S LICENSE

GRADUATED DRIVER LICENSE
***THE FOLLOWING ARE THE STEPS YOUR STUDENT MUST COMPLETE TO RECEIVE THEIR DRIVERS LICENSE. ***
1- Must pass state of Utah Written Exam (must score 80% or better)

Students may take this test when they turn 15 years of age.
2- Obtain Learners Permit from Utah DLD

This requires an appointment at the DLD (dld.utah.gov)

There will be a $19.00 fee at the DLD.

Students may obtain their learners permit at age 15.
3- Must complete state of Utah approved Driver Education Course with 80% or better. This is a B- average.
4- Must complete 4 hours of Range Time at the high school driving range.

Ranges will be scheduled with instructor in class.

2 Ranges lasting 2 hours each.

Student must have learner’s permit.
5- Must complete 3 hours of Behind the Wheel Road Driving with instructor.

Drives will be scheduled using the online scheduler.

6 drives of 30 minutes driving and 60 minutes observation.
6- Must complete Street Smarts online simulator.

Requires account set up.
7- Must pass state of Utah Driving Skills Exam (80% minimum required).

Requires appointment at Utah DLD and $19.00 fee.
8- Must pay Granite School District Fee of $185.00

Fee can be paid on Focus or directly to Book Keeper in main office.

Completion Certificate will not be released until fee is taken care of.
9- Must complete Traffic Safety Trends exam. (this test is online)
10- Must complete 40 hours of driving with parent or guardian (10 hours at night)
11- Must possess Learners Permit for 6 months.
12- Must be 16 years of age with guardian signature.
*ONCE ENROLLED IN THE CLASS, STUDENTS HAVE 1 YEAR TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM OR THEY WILL NEED TO START PROGRAM OVER. STUDENT MUST COMPLETE ALL RANGES AND DRIVES PRIOR TO GRADUATION.
